It’s something we hear all the time in the shop…
“I just don’t know what suits me anymore.”
“Nothing seems to sit right.”
“I don’t feel comfortable in anything lately.”
And more often than not, it’s not about having the “wrong” body.
It’s about not having the right pieces.
Because bodies change and so should what we wear
Over time, our bodies naturally change.
In fact, I'm writing this fully immersed into menopause with a 'meno belly' to boot!!
Something we see a lot is women still reaching for the same shapes they’ve always worn even when they might not feel quite right anymore.
Not because they’re wrong… just because they’re no longer the best fit for where you are now.
Sometimes, it’s not about needing a whole new wardrobe.
It’s just about trying something different.
What we often see
When women come into the shop feeling unsure, it’s rarely about trends.
It’s more like:
- “This used to suit me, but it doesn’t anymore”
- “I don’t know what works now”
- “I just want to feel comfortable again”
And often, the turning point is simply trying a new shape you wouldn’t usually pick up.
The difference a new shape can make
It might be:
- A looser fit instead of something more fitted
- A higher waist that sits more comfortably
- A different length that feels more flattering
- Softer fabrics that move better with your body
Small changes but they can make a big difference in how something feels and looks.
Don’t be afraid to try something new
We always encourage our customers to try:
- New shapes
- Different fabrics
- Colours they wouldn’t usually go for
Because sometimes the piece you didn’t expect to like…
end up being the one you feel best in.
A little reminder we always come back to
In the shop, we have a quote on the wall that we love:
“Don’t be pretty like her, be pretty like you.”
Because all of our bodies are different.
What suits someone else won’t necessarily suit you. This isn't about fixing something, it’s embracing it.
It’s so easy to compare, especially when we’re looking at other people or scrolling online… but that’s often where the doubt comes from.
The goal isn’t to dress like someone else.
It’s to feel like the best version of yourself.
If there’s one thing we’d say…
You’ll know when something feels right.
You’ll stand a little taller.
You’ll feel more comfortable.
You won’t be overthinking it.
That is always the best guide.
